Volunteers are the backbone of our club!


The hockey club relies on the efforts of our many amazing volunteers, without whom the club would not function. And so, we encourage every one of our members to get involved.

As well as the hockey related jobs that include:

  • arranging fixtures

  • coordinating umpires

  • registering players

  • managing teams

there are many 'back office' jobs in:

  • finance

  • communications

  • membership

  • fundraising & sponsorship

  • equipment management

  • organising socials, and

  • special projects and events

Volunteer opportunities include jobs with more regular commitment, short term more project-based activities and once-off helping out with events. So there's something to suit everyone!

It's a great way to get to know different people in the club and it's really rewarding. So, if you'd like to help out in the club we'd love to hear from you! 💚

Treasurer - We are in need of a Treasurer to join the Committee. Click here for role description

Shed Manager - We're looking for someone to ensure that the shed is kept tidy and stocked throughout the season. 

Team Manager - Our Senior 4ths & 5ths are looking for team managers. Maybe you're a parent, or you're not playing anymore & looking for a way to stay involved. Managers give organisational support to the team Coach & Captain, as well as helping the Coach on the sideline at matches where possible.

Sponsorship – Muckross HC is always looking for sources of additional income to support our teams and members; we are looking for someone to manage our relationships with existing sponsors whilst pursuing new prospects for the Club.

Club Mark Coordinator – Hockey Ireland Club Mark is the National Governing Bodies Club Accreditation Programme. The aim of Club Mark is to support, recognise and reward hockey clubs that want to achieve the highest of club standards. We're looking for someone to run this project and obtain the accreditation. Communications team – There are 700+ members in the Club, and it's really important to us that everyone is kept informed and up-to-date. We're looking for a team to support the Comms Secretary. Whether it's taking on one of the weekly announcements, helping with the monthly newsletter, taking photos at matches/events, or working in a more project-based style to help advertise events and socials. 

Socials team - Join the social team to help with planning, promoting and running whole-club socials throughout the season. There's bigger events like the Christmas party and end-of-season dinner, and smaller events during the year. If you've ideas, we want to hear them!

Fundraising team - Fundraising is essential for the Club to cover the day-to-day running costs, as well as additional expenses that might occur. It also is vital for the future development of the Club, such as long-term goals like pitch resurfacing & clubhouse opportunities. We're looking to gather a team that can help will both small and larger scale fundraising efforts within the Club.

Grants – A hugely important role. We’re looking for someone to keep their ear to the ground and identify new grant/funding opportunities from government and charitable organisations and then to manage the application process.

There are so many more areas that you could help with, we can’t list them all here.
