President's Message - December

Christmas greetings to everyone - players, coaches, managers, committee members and parents. It has been a strange and difficult year - hockey, no hockey, and matches for only a few players. COVID-19 has made this a season like no other. However, after a long and difficult year, there are increasingly signs that we may yet return to something that more resembles normal life in 2021. There is reason to be optimistic!

The Junior section has continued to thrive under Jacqui Holmes, with all her coaches and parents. Well done to you all. To raise €1000 for Crumlin Hospital was amazing - huge congratulations.

The Muckross Magic has never been more apparent than in this season, where we've dealt with one of the hardest seasons in the Club's history. Members throughout all the sections have been getting stuck in, in big and small ways, to ensure that the Club keeps running and that we're able to keep playing the sport we love!

To all the coaches who have conducted safe sessions and devised varied practices with ingenuity, and to the managers who have overseen the safety of the players very well done to you all. And of course, the Committee have been constantly beavering away, particularly Deirdre who has her eagle eye on everything, well done to all of you too.

To our past players and loyal supporters, you are not forgotten, and I hope we will be able to get together before the end of the season.

So, whilst our work isn’t yet done for this year, we look forward optimistically to 2021. We are getting through this together, with a bit of patience, a lot of support and all the wonderful people that make up the Muckross community!

I wish each and every one of you, and your families, a happy Christmas and a New Year with lots of hockey. Roll on 2021!

Helen Buckley
